Local Organizations, Initiatives, and Gardens
The Cherokee Lake Pollinator Garden at Cherokee Lake Park is located on Covington Avenue on Thomasville, GA and sits adjacent to the City of Thomasville Rose Garden. The garden was formed in the shape of a butterfly and focuses on native plants that provide nectar and larval host homes for a variety of pollinating insects including butterflies and bees. Where to See Native Plants
Lost Creek Forest is a pristine slope forest and wetlands that have seen very little disturbance. It is located on publicly owned land near the airport in Thomas County, Georgia. They have tours scheduled throughout the year. Click here for the Friends of Lost Creek Forest Facebook page.
Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve, located near Cairo, GA, is a highly diverse hardwood forest with the highest concentration of trout lilies known anywhere. Click here for their Facebook page.

Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants, by the Institue for Systematic Botany, University of South Florida, allows you to search for plants by name or by county and view pictures of the plants and their distribution by counties.
The Robert K. Godfrey Herbarium at Florida State University is a museum-quality collection of over 220,000 plant and microalgae specimens. Follow the link here to search the specimen database.
