Awards

The Magnolia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society has three opportunities for grants and scholarships.

State Conference Student Scholarship Application - PDF

Each conference scholarship will cover conference registration and fees (including field trips, social events, membership fee). Applications are welcome from any actively enrolled, local undergraduate or graduate student of a higher education institution who wishes to attend the FNPS annual conference in May (conference information available at fnps.org). Applicants must be FNPS members, and the membership fee is reimbursable through this scholarship. Applications will reviewed by a committee appointed by the Chapter President. The scholarship winners will be announced by May 1 and will be provided with a reimbursement form and instructions. After the conference, the recipient is to provide the Chapter with a short article describing the conference experience, or a short (2-3 minutes) oral presentation at a Chapter meeting (meeting information available at magnolia.fnpschapters.org).

Panhandle Student Research Grant Application - PDF

Up to $500 is available to an actively enrolled, local undergraduate or graduate student of any institution of higher education to conduct research relating to the FNPS mission in the panhandle and Big Bend of Florida. The grant money is awarded on a reimbursable basis in increments not less than $100 by completing the reimbursement form. Applications will be reviewed by the Magnolia Chapter's review committee. The grant winner will be announced by November 20, 2016. After the research is complete, the recipient is to provide the Chapter with a report describing the research and either a short oral presentation at a Chapter program meeting or a short written summary for posting on the Chapter web site and for other distribution.
